Valparaiso, Chile, is a beach city that is just a three hour bus ride north of Santiago. It’s where all the Santiago residents go to get away from their own city. I don’t like the idea of heading backwards, I had flown over the north part of the country so going north on a bus was a frustrating idea. However, many people told me how great and beautiful the city was. Most importantly, Valparaiso is the location of one of Pablo Neruda’s homes, that was all I needed to go.
Valparaiso is a beautiful city, covered in amazing street art and with it’s hills it was reminiscent of Lisbon, Portugal. I stayed in a hostel near a beach, with a medium size mongrel dog called Mochita. By the end of me trip she had even started to like me. It made a nice change to being attacked by the Ecuadorian dogs.
