ESCAPE THE ORDINARY ADVENTURE: Colombian Party

Sep 7, 2015 | | Say something

Ok, enough politics, back to the adventure.

I’m not really one for clubbing or parties – once upon a time I was – but no more. Last New Year’s Eve I stayed in and watched a film and I must say it was one of my best New Year’s Eve experiences. I’m in the wrong continent since everyone here is a dancer. And to be fair I do love dancing too, it’s just the whole club atmosphere and staying up way past my bedtime I have a problem with. Still, I was in Colombia, and here they don’t really accept that you wouldn’t want to go out – so I found myself one Thursday night out with Isabel and her girlfriends and one other guy in a Medellin club, drinking Aguardiente and trying to keep up with the energy and co-ordination of the Colombians. I think I did ok, although Aguardiente – firewater – is not my favourite. It tastes like cheap Sambuca. I had to go to bed long before anyone else even thought about leaving the club.
